NFCA All-Region ReleaseOn the eve of their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, three Fordham Rams have been named to the NFCA All-Region Team, it was announced this morning.
Â
Elise Fortier (Coventry, R.I./Conventry/Stony Brook) earned a spot on the First Team,
Michele Daubman (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) tallied Second Team honors and
Kayla Lombardo (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Township) played her way onto the Third Team.
Â
The Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, Fortier was named to the First Team All-Region for the second straight year, leading the Rams in nearly every single major offensive statistical category. The Coventry, R.I., native tops the squad in home runs (19), RBIs (70-school record), walks (35), runs scored (49), on-base percentage (.495), slugging percentage (.841) and stolen bases (7). With 45 home runs for her Fordham career, Fortier is currently tied for first place on the school's career list in that category, despite donning the maroon and white for only three seasons.
Â
Daubman's Second Team nod comes less than a week after the Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Year took home Most Outstanding Player honors at the Atlantic 10 Championship. The North Massapequa, N.Y., native leads the Rams with a 2.58 ERA, 18 wins and a .246 opponent batting average. Also a member of the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, the Plainedge High School product sports a perfect 4.0 GPA through five semesters of study. At the A-10 Championship in the Bronx, Daubman, who was a First Team All-Region selection last year, won all three of Fordham's games, compiling a 0.93 ERA in the process.
Â
Lombardo, an Academic All-Conference and Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Team selection, earns a spot on the Third Team All-Region on the heels of a stellar junior campaign. Lombardo is one of five Rams hitting over .300 on the season (.325), while ranking third on the team in home runs (10) and RBIs (35). The Pompton Plains, N.J., native is just one of four players to reach double digits in home runs this season, while solidifying herself as one of the premier defensive third basemen in the region with a .975 fielding percentage.
Â
The Rams kick off NCAA Regional action tomorrow at 7:00 PM, facing off against #8 Florida State on ESPN2.
