The date was May 7, 2001.  That was the last career Major League outing for former Fordham pitcher Pete Harnisch, and since then no Ram had cracked the "big show."  That is until Saturday night, as former Ram Nick Martinez made his MLB debut with the Texas Rangers against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Martinez, who was an infielder/pitcher for the Rams from 2009-11, was an 18th-round selection in the 2011 MLB First Year Player Draft by the Texas Rangers and was the team's starting pitcher on Saturday in Tampa.

With a number of family members in attendance, Martinez received a no-decision, but left the game with a 4-3 lead after six innings and 85 pitches.  He allowed three runs on four hits to go with three walks and three strikeouts.  Though he gave up two home runs, he posted strikeouts against All-Stars Evan Longoria and Ben Zobrist, as well as two-time World Series champion, Jose Molina.
