He was second on the team with four interceptions and had a team-high 15 pass breakups along with two forced fumbles. Williams led the Patriot League and was seventh in the NCAA FCS in passes defended, was tied for fourth in the League in interceptions and was 12
th in total tackles/game.
, a two-year starter who earned second team All-Patriot League honors last fall. He made 80 total tackles in 2013, 53 solo, ranking third on the team in total tackles. Among his 80 stops were two for loss and he also had two quarterback hurries, two pass breakups and one interception.
Victor DiFusco, who appeared in 13 games last year, is back and looks to take over the middle linebacker spot in 2104. Last year, he recorded 31 total tackles, 19 solo, including 4.5 for loss and had two forced fumbles.
On the defensive line, senior
Brett Biestek, a first team Academic All-American® and first team All-Patriot League pick last fall, returns for his fourth season. He recorded 58 total tackles, 40 solo, including 14.5 tackles for a loss of 74 yards and five sacks for 36 yards. He also had five quarterback hurries, four pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a blocked kick. Biestek tied for second in the Patriot League in tackles for loss per game (1.1) and was tied for seventh in sacks per game (0.36).
Also back is
DeAndre Slate, a two-year starter who was a first team All-Patriot League selection in 2013 after making 49 total tackles, 32 solo, including 14.5 for loss and seven sacks. He led the team with his seven sacks and was tied second in tackles for loss. Slate also compiled one quarterback hurry, one pass breakup and one forced fumble. He tied for second in the Patriot League in tackles for loss and was third in sacks.
