Bronx, N.Y. (April 2, 2014) – The Fordham University women's tennis team finally got a chance to play its first home match of the 2014 spring season but things didn't turn out as planned for the Rams, who fell to St. John's University, 5-2, on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.

The Rams opened the match by dropping the doubles point. Fordham won third doubles by default but couldn't pull out a win in the two contested matches. Elliesa Ball and Sarah Ali fell at first doubles to Anna Morozova and Yanita Arnaudova, 8-6, and Angelika Dabu and Julie Leong dropped second doubles to Diamond Adams and Nastya Polyakova, 8-5.

Fordham picked up its two points in singles play as Ball defeated Polyakova at first singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, and Anika Novacek won by default at sixth singles. The Red Storm won the other four singles matches in straight sets.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, April 5, as they travel to Stony Brook for a 1:00 p.m. match.
