Charlottesville, Va. (April 18, 2014) – The task proved to be too much for the Fordham University men's tennis team as they were eliminated from the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championships with a 4-0 loss to #57 VCU at the Boar's Head Sports Club on Friday.

The Rams, seeded tenth, opened play by dropping the doubles point to the second-seeded VCU Rams, winning both completed doubles matches. Kuba Kowalski and Matty Najfeld fell to Wilder Pimentel and Michal Voscek at second doubles, 8-4 and then Mischa Koran and Alastair Barnes dropped an 8-6 decision to Alexis Heugas and Nick Jones at first singles as VCU clinched the doubles point. The third double match between Fordham's J.J. Tauil and Michael Puntillo and VCU's Vuk Velickovic and Alejandro Argente was tied at four when play was halted.

VCU picked up its second team point when Kuba Kowalski was forced to withdraw at sixth singles and then took a 3-0 lead when Jones defeated Tauil at third singles, 6-0, 6-1. Voseck then won the match for VCU with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Koran at fourth singles.
