Women’s Tennis Falls to Temple, 5-2

Sarah Ali and Angelika Dabu win singles matches for Rams

Philadelphia, Pa. (April 9, 2014) – The Fordham University women's tennis team faced a former Atlantic 10 opponent on Wednesday when they traveled to Philadelphia to take on Temple University, falling to the Owls, 5-2, at the TU Pavilion.
 
The Rams opened play by dropping the doubles point, losing both completed double matches. Rebecca Breland and Dina Karina defeated Fordham's Sarah Ali and Elliesa Ball at first doubles, 8-4, while Anais Nussaume and Yana Mavrina handed Anika Novacek and Destiny Grunin an 8-4 setback at second doubles.
 
In singles action, the Rams picked up points at the second and third positions as Ali upended Mavrina at second singles, 6-1, 6-3, and Dabu defeated Jordan Batey, 7-5, 7-5, at third singles.
 
The Rams return to action on Saturday, April 12, as they travel to Kingston, R.I., to face the University of Rhode Island Rams at 1:00 p.m.
