Men’s Tennis Fall at Saint Joseph’s

Rams win doubles point

Philadelphia, Pa. (April 7, 2014) – The Fordham University men's tennis team stopped off in Philadelphia on their way back to New York to face Saint Joseph's University and fell to the Hawks, 6-1.
 
The Rams opened the match on a high note, taking the doubles point. Kuba Kowalski and Alastair Barnes won at first doubles over Jose Sierra and Pierre Brondeau, 8-6, while Matty Najfeld and Mischa Koran defeated Kyle Chalmers and Andres Urrea at second doubles, 8-6.
 
But Fordham dropped all six singles matches with two of the matches going to a third set. Najfeld dropped the first set of first singles to Sierra, 6-1, before coming back to win the second, 6-2. But Sierra rebounded to take the third set, 6-4.
 
At fourth singles, Michael Puntillo lost the first set to Urrea, 7-6, but managed to win the second, 7-6, forcing a tiebreaker which was won by Urrea, 10-5.
