Rams Sweep A-10 Weekly Awards

Fortier, Daubman and Quense Earn Weekly Honors

After coming out of the weekend with a winning record, the Fordham softball squad has swept the Atlantic 10 Weekly Awards.  Elise Fortier was named the conference's Player of the Week, Michele Daubman earned Pitcher of the Week honors and Lauren Quense took home Rookie of the Week accolades.

After setting the A-10 single season home run record a year ago, Fortier is off to another hot start in 2014.  The Coventry, R.I., native smacked two home runs this weekend, going 4-14 with two round trippers and two doubles in a weekend that saw Fordham go 3-2.  In an impressive win over Ole Miss, Fortier went 2-3 with a home run and a double, driving in three runs in the process.  Fortier registered five RBI total on the weekend.

Daubman, who took home Pitcher of the Week honors last week as well, made three starts, going 2-1 win a pair of complete game victories.  Against Ole Miss on Friday, Daubman gave up only two earned runs in seven innings of work against an SEC opponent, allowing the Rams to come out with the victory.  After struggling against DePaul, Daubman rebounded against College of Charleston, surrendering only one earned run over seven innings, improving her record to 2-1 on the weekend and 3-2 on the year.

Quense made the most of her first career start, shutting out Western Carolina and picking up the game winning single on Sunday morning.  The Langhorne, Pa., native gave up no runs in seven innings of work in the circle and registered the game's only RBI, hitting a one-run single that would prove to be the game-winning run.  Quense also pitched three solid innings in relief against DePaul.

The Rams hit the road again this weekend, traveling to Cathedral City, Calif., for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic beginning on Thursday.
