The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced that 4,687 softball players across seven membership divisions earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2013-14 academic year. To receive the honor, a student-athlete must have a 3.5 GPA or higher.
In all, more than 400 different schools scored academic honors with 1,105 honorees coming from NCAA Division I teams. Five of those were Fordham Rams, as Michele Daubman, Kayla Lombardo, Serena Moroukian, Brianna Turgeon, and Lauren Quense all received NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors.
For Daubman (Public Accounting major), it is her fifth major academic honor, as she has has twice been named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District team and the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference squad, while being the third major academic honor for Lombardo (Communications & Media Studies major). She was named to Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District team and the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference squad in 2014.
This is the first major academic award for Moroukian (Finance major), Turgeon (Public Accounting major), and Quense (Business Administration major).
