Box Score Hamden, Conn. (October 5, 2014) – The Fordham men's tennis squad traveled to Quinnipiac University this weekend to compete in the Quinnipiac Invitational but most Rams were limited to just one day of play due to the weather.
J.J. Tauil picked up a win for Fordham at A singles on Friday as he defeated Wagner's Allen Wang, 7-5, 6-2, to advance to the quarterfinals where he fell to Steven Chen of Wesleyan, 6-0, 6-1.
Also competing in the A flight was
Mischa Koran, who fell to Michal Rolski of Wagner, 6-3, 7-6 (1).
In B singles,
Pol Giraldez needed a tiebreaker to best Jake Roberts of Wesleyan, winning the first set, 6-3, dropping the second, 6-4, but winning the tiebreaker,11-9. He then fell to Adam Chan from FDU in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-3.
Max Peara also played in B singles, falling to FDU's Diogo Garnel, 6-3, 3-6, 10-2.
In C singles,
Pedro Alonzo defeated Morgan White of Hartford in the first round, 6-3, 6-4, before falling to Quinnipiac's Kyle Alper, 6-1, 6-2. Also in C singles,
Joey Brander fell to FDU's Julien Philippe, 6-1, 6-2.
In D singles,
Harris Durkovic was beaten by Villanova's Mark Miller, 6-0, 6-3, and
Joseph Kavalovski dropped a 6-0, 6-3 decision to Stephen Monk of Wesleyan.
The Rams did not play any doubles matches.
The Fordham men's tennis squad returns to action on Wednesday, October 8, as they travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to face Marist College at 4:00 p.m.
