Patricia Vernon Promoted to Full-Time Assistant Coach

May 21, 2013

BRONX, N.Y. - Fordham volleyball head coach Gini Ullery has announced that Patricia Vernon has been promoted to a full-time assistant coach for the upcoming 2013 season.

"I am excited to add Patricia to my staff," Ullery said. "She is a hard worker with a good background in the Atlantic 10, as well as with Fordham volleyball. She is eager to learn and help make her mark on this program."

Vernon becomes an assistant coach after serving as a part-time assistant coach with the Rams in 2012 and a volunteer assistant for Fordham in 2011.

Prior to her time on the Rams staff, Vernon had a stellar volleyball career of her own at Temple University. After earning Atlantic 10 All-Rookie honors in 2005, Vernon tallied three consecutive seasons from 2006-2008 that saw her garner All-Atlantic 10 accolades.

Vernon finished her career ranked seventh on the Temple career list in block assists (249) and registered over 1,100 kills and 300 blocks in her time as an Owl.

Vernon graduated from Temple in 2010 with a degree from the School of Communications and Theater.

A local product from Ossining, New York, Vernon has assisted at a number of volleyball camps, including the Downstate Volleyball Camp, coaching aspiring female volleyball players, the Venom Sports Volleyball Camp, which mentored underprivileged youth, and the Bob Bertucci Volleyball Camp, which instructed college bound volleyball players.

In the Fall of 2010, Vernon was brought on as an assistant club volleyball coach at the Downstate Junior Volleyball Club in Peekskill, New York with the 18-1 Team, as well as the varsity head coach at The School of the Holy Child in Rye, New York. Last season, she led Holy Child to the 2010 League Championship for the first time in school history and a spot in the NYSAIS State Tournament.
