FAIRFAX, VA - The Fordham volleyball team fell to the George Mason Patriots in five sets (23-25, 25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 12-15) Friday on the road.
The loss dropped Fordham's record to 9-16 overall and 3-12 in Atlantic 10 action. With tonight's setback the Rams were officially eliminated from playoff contention.
The Rams were led by a double-double from Zoe Talabong, who registered 11 kills and 10 digs on the day. Audrey Brown also added 11 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Lola Fernandez chipped in for with 17 digs to go with seven blocks from Sophia Oliveira.

SET 1 | The Rams found themselves in an early deficit, losing a hard-fought first set 25-23. George Mason grabbed the advantage for good at 22-21 in a set that was tied up four times before the Patriots took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Fordham tied the match at 1-1 with a 25-19 set-two win. Impressive serving helped the Rams earn the set-two victory. Fordham totaled five aces in the set win. The Rams ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza.
SET 3 | Fordham built on that second-set success with a victory in set number three to open up a lead at two sets to one. The Rams took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to secure a 25-17 victory. Fordham opened up as much as an eight point lead at 13-5 before finishing off the set. Fordham's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four George Mason attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 13 George Mason attacking errors on the way to victory.
SET 4 | Fordham couldn't keep the win streak going, as the Patriots forced a fifth set with a 25-22 fourth-set win. The Rams lost the first point and never took the lead before falling in the set.
SET 5 | Fordham opened a lead of two sets to one before dropping the final two sets, including a 15-12 loss in the fifth set. The Rams couldn't survive a furious George Mason rally in the fifth set, falling after leading by five points at 5-0 earlier in the set.
