FAIRFAX, VA --The Fordham volleyball team jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but couldn't hold on and lost in four sets (26-24, 24-26, 21-25, 21-25) to the George Mason Patriots Saturday on the road.
The loss dropped Fordham's record to 9-17 overall and 3-13 in Atlantic 10 action.
The Rams offense was paced by Erynn Sweeney, who finished with 12 kills on the day. Tatum Holderied added 10 and Audrey Brown chipped in with 10 as part of balanced Fordham attack. Defensively, Fordham had three players reach double figures in digs, including Zoe Talabong's 19, 14 from Lola Fernandez, and 14 more from Whitney Woodrow.

SET 2 | Fordham then dropped set two 26-24, evening the match at a set apiece. The Rams dropped a tight second set, losing in a stanza that was tied seven times and had one lead change.
SET 3 | A set-three loss put Fordham down two sets to one. In spite of impressive serving, the Rams fell in the set by the score of 25-21. Fordham recorded five aces in the loss.
SET 4 | Fordham lost set four and the match, falling 25-21. George Mason grabbed the advantage for good at 13-12 and Fordham was never able to recover in a set that was tied up six times before the Patriots took over the lead.
