Men's Tennis Falls to Bryant, 5-2

Peder Gram

Final Stats

April 7, 2013 - Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University men's tennis team suffered its third straight setback today, falling to Bryant University, 5-2, on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.

The Rams opened the match by winning the doubles point, taking two of the three doubles matches. Srikar Alla and Max Peara knocked off Ernesto Arguello and Vidith Huot, 8-5, at first doubles and Michael Puntillo and Peder Gram were victorious over Dana Parziale and Phillip Kim at the third position, 8-2.

The Rams couldn't carry that energy into singles play, winning just one singles match, that coming at first singles where Alla upended Max Vogt in straight sets, 7-5 and 6-2. It was Alla's team-leading 17th singles win of the year.

Peara almost picked up another point for the Rams at fourth singles, winning the second set from Joshua Rubinstein, 6-4, after dropping the first by the same score, but he couldn't pull out the tiebreaker, falling 10-5.

The Rams will return to action on Tuesday, April 9, as they host Quinnipiac University on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts at 12:00 PM.
