April 26, 2013 - Mason, Ohio - The Fordham University men's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Thursday as the Rams fell to the University of Richmond, 4-2, in the first round of play at the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championships at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
The Rams, seeded tenth, got the cold afternoon off to a good start by winning the doubles point over the seventh-seeded Spiders. Srikar Alla and Michael Puntillo got things started with an 8-2 win over Justin Baker and Dylan Trent at third doubles and then Max Peara and J.J. Tauil clinched the point for Fordham with an 8-5 decision over Richmond's Paul Nahon III and Jesse Feder at the second position.
Fordham couldn't build on that momentum in singles play as the Rams dropped four of the five completed singles matches. Matty Najfeld accounted for the Fordham singles win, taking the first set from Nahon, 6-0, before dropping the second, 6-3. But Najfeld came back to win the third, 6-2
The Rams dropped the other four singles matches in straight sets.
