Final Stats

April 18, 2013 - Charlottesville, Va. - The Fordham women's tennis team opened play at the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championships on Thursday with a 4-1 win over Duquesne University at the Boar's Head Sports Club. The seventh-seeded Rams won four singles matches over the tenth-seeded Dukes to advance to the next round where they will face Xavier on Friday at 1:00 PM.

The match opened with the Dukes winning the doubles point, taking two of the three doubles matches. Angelika Dabu and Julie Leong opened doubles play with an 8-3 win over Chandler Consonery and Laurence Lambert at third doubles but Duquesne's Sarah Shashura and Megan O'Sullivan knocked off Amy Simidian and Sarah Ali at the first position, 8-4, and Alexa Miller and Judy Li defeated Bella Genkina and Anika Novacek at second doubles to win the point for the Dukes.

But the Rams scored all the points they would need in singles play, winning the first four completed matches. Ali got the Rams' first points, defeating O'Sullivan at second singles, 6-2, 6-0, and then Novacek made it a 2-1 match with a 6-1, 6-3, win over Consonery at the sixth spot.
