Day Two Results
Geneva, Ohio - (Feb. 21, 2013) - The Fordham men's swimming & diving team remains in seventh place after day two of the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship, held at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The Rams had at least one scorer in every event on the night, including two in the 50 freestyle and the one-meter dive.
Overall, St. Bonaventure stayed at the top of the standings with 249.5 points, followed by Xavier (207), Massachusetts (204), George Washington (160), Saint Louis (149), La Salle (145.5), and Fordham (131).
The night began with the 500-yard freestyle, as freshman
Steve Sholdra took fourth in the "B" final (12th overall) in a time of 4:32.34.
Next up was the 200-yard individual medley, as sophomore
Zachary Jacobsen snuck into the "B" final to earn a fourth place finish (12th overall) in a time of 1:53.11.
Fordham then had two swimmers make the finals of the 50-yard freestyle.
Shintaro Noguchi was second in the "B" final, earning 10th overall in 20.81 seconds, while
Devon Morris, the defending champion, placed seventh in the "A" final in 20.59 seconds.
The attention then turned to the one-meter diving competition, as senior
Kevin Wong made the finals, taking seventh with a score of 217.20.
Kevin Jimenez-Cowell also scored with his preliminary score of 176.15, which was good for ninth.
The final men's event of the night was the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Morris,
Patrick Militti,
Thomas Shetler, and Noguchi tied for fourth place in a time of 1:22.50.
Day three of the championship will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday with preliminary heats, followed by the finals at 6:30 PM.
