Squash Concludes Regular Season Matches Against NYU

Feb. 10, 2013 - Bronx, N.Y. - It was a difficult final week of the regular season for the Fordham squash team. The Rams dropped a 5-2 decision at NYU on Wednesday, followed by two cancelled matches due to the weather, and ended the week with a 7-2 loss to NYU on Sunday.

On Wednesday, a shortened Rams' line-up fell to NYU by a 5-2 score.

Fordham earned victories at the fifth and seventh slot, as Paul Monaghan continued his stellar play, defeating Matthew Schumann, 12-10, 12-10, and 11-6, at the #5 spot. Quetzalli Torres posted the Rams' other victory at the seventh slot, topping Somesh Batra, 9-11, 11-5, 12-10, and 11-5.

After two cancelled matches on Saturday, the Rams took on NYU once again, this time at home in the Lombardi Center Squash Courts.

Fordham would not fare much better, falling to NYU by a 7-2 count. Torres posted his second win of the week, defeating Hakeem Elliott at the eighth slot, 12-10, 4-11, 11-7, and 12-10, while Jeremy Keller topped Aakash Shah in a highly contested sixth slot match, 11-7, 9-11, 12-10, 13-15, and 11-4.

The Rams will next be in action at the CSA Team Championship, March 22-24, in New Haven, Connecticut.
