As Breast Cancer Awareness Month winds down, the Fordham swimming & diving team got into the fundraising act, joining efforts from other Fordham squads, as the team took part in Swim Across America and the Breast Cancer Walk in Central Park.

On October 19th, Fordham was a host site for Swim Across America (SAA), which is a national organization started in 1987 with a single event in Nantucket that has grown to dozens of swims today.  To date, SAA has raised over $45 million for cancer research, prevention and treatment.  Major benefactors in the greater New York area include Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Cancer Support Team of Westchester, Children's Hospital of NY Presbyterian, Mercy Medical Center and the Cold Spring Harbor Lab.

The Rams had 18 swimmers took part, raising over $5,500.  If you wish to donate toward the Fordham swimming and diving team's effort, post-swim donations can be made here.

The following day, the team made its way down to Central Park for the annual Breast Cancer Walk run by the American Cancer Society.  This is fifth consecutive year that Fordham swimming & diving has taken part in the event.  This year, the swim team was joined by members of Fordham SAAC and the softball team in the event.
