Fordham swimmers
Steve Sholdra (Renton, Wash.) and
Megan Polaha (Orefield, Pa.) captured Atlantic 10 weekly honors, it was announced on Tuesday. Sholdra was named the Men's Performer of the Week for the first time in his career, while Polaha was the Women's Rookie of the Week for the first time.
Sholdra, who captured an A-10 record seven Rookie of the Week awards last season, received his first performer of the week award, after posting five individual event victories over two meets against Marist and Fairfield. Against Marist, he won the 500-yd freestyle (4:38.02), the 1,000-yd freestyle (9:29.38) as well as the 200-yd butterfly (1:54.20). He also recorded individual victories in the 100-yd backstroke (54.76) and the 200-yd breaststroke (2:12.45) against Fairfield.
Polaha started her collegiate career with three individual event victories and three relay victories as the Rams defeated both Marist and Fairfield. Against Marist, she captured the 200-yd IM (2:07.83) and 200-yd butterfly (2:03.35) along with swimming a leg of the 400-yd medley relay. Polaha followed with wins in the 200-yd backstroke, 200-yd medley relay and the 200-yd freestyle relay against Fairfield.
Sholdra, Polaha, and the rest of Fordham swimming & diving teams will next be in action on Saturday, November 2
nd, at Boston University, beginning at 1:30 PM.
