Women’s Tennis Competes at ITA Regional at Harvard

Ellie Ball and Sarah Ali Make Doubles Run to the Round of 16; Ball Reaches Round of 32 in the Main Singles Draw

Cambridge, Mass. - Fordham women's tennis players Sarah Ali and Elliesa Ball traveled to Harvard University for the 2013 ITA Regionals posting runs in both the doubles draw and main singles draw.
 
In the qualifying draw for main singles, Ali fell to Boston University's Iris Lin, 6-4, 6-3.
 
The loss ended her singles run but she roared back with Ball in the doubles draw.  First, Ali and Ball defeated St. John's Diamond Admas and Nastya Polyakova, 8-7 (5).  The Rams doubles' team followed with one of four seeded upsets, as the Rams' duo knocked off 14th-seeded Yuliana Motyl and Aarzzo Malik of UMass, 8-3, to advance to the round of 16.
 
In the round of 16, Ball and Ali's run ended with a loss to sixth-seeded Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis and Johanna Hyoty of Boston University, 8-7 (3).
 
In the main singles draw, Ball won a pair of matches, defeating St. Bonavenutre's Fatya Amari, 6-1, 6-2, and Fairleigh Dickinson's Ksenija Tihomirova, 6-2, 6-0, to advance to the round of 32.  However, Ball's singles' bid would end there, falling to Yale's Annie Sullivan, 6-3, 6-1
