Bronx, N.Y. - (Nov. 21, 2009) - The Fordham cross country teams hosted the ECAC/IC4A Cross Country Championship on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park. The host Rams finished 10th in the women's university race, while the men's were 12th in the university race. In the championship races, Boston College took the women's title, while Duke won the men's championship title.

The day opened with the men's and women's coaches races. In the men's 8K run, La Salle took the first four finishers, led by Mark Del Monaco with a time of 27:42.7. Fordham's top men's finisher in this race was Nick Synan in 14th place in a time of 28:31.6. In the women's race, Delaware's Sarah Ports won the race in a time of 19:25.3. For host Fordham, Mary LeSage was the best finisher in 19th at 20:54.4.

The next race on the docket was the IC4A Championship 8K race, where George Mason's Everett Hackett took home top honors in 25:22.3, just ahead of William & Mary's Chris Tyson (25:24.9).

In team action, Duke won the team title with 41 points over 14 other teams, led by Andrew Brodeur, who placed third overall in 25:28.4. Duke was followed by William & Mary (67), George Mason
(113), and La Salle (130).

The ECAC Championship 5K Run was the fourth event of the day, as Boston College just edged out William & Mary for the title. The Eagles took first of 14 teams with 54 points, followed by William & Mary (60), James Madison (116) and Stony Brook (116).

Stony Brook's Lucy and Holly Van Delan took the top two spots, as Lucy placed first, followed by Holly.

The next race was the IC4A University 8K run, where Temple University was first out of 28 teams, while host Fordham was 12th.

Temple took three of the top six spots overall, but it was NJIT's Christian Baumbach, who took top medalist honors in a time of 25:36.8.

For Fordham, Clifton Hilario was the top finisher in 18th place in a time of 26:24.0. Kevin Fitzgerald was the next Ram across the line in 39th at 26:53.2, while Julian Saad was 63rd in 27:28.1. The Rams also had Rich Grandelli (78th - 27:36.4), Patrick McDonough (95th - 27:50.9), Ryan Campi (100th - 27:54.1), John Korevec (118th - 28:18.5), and Stephen Donnelly (172nd - 29:54.9) competing in the race.

The final event was the women's ECAC University 5K run, where Marist took the top prize, while host Fordham was 10th out of 27 teams.

Individually, Brenae Edwards of Mansfield College won the race in a time of 17:25.0.

For Fordham, Brigid Moriarty finished her cross country career in eighth place, clocking in at 18:13.8, while Kerri Gallagher was 27th overall in 18:58.6. Sheena Parand was 58th overall in 19:35.7, followed by Mairin O'Connor (71st - 19:50.9), Kim Naples (77th - 19:54.0), Christina Machado (112th - 20:24.0), Ashley Davis (134th - 20:43.7), Dana Mitchell (138th - 20:46.4), and Bridget Carroll (186th - 22:45.5).
