Bronx, N.Y. - (Jan. 23, 2009) - The Fordham women's swimming & diving team got back to action on Friday night, as they topped C.W. Post, 119-60, at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center. The Fordham women improved to 7-2 on the season.
Fordham took the top spot in 12 of the 13 events on the evening with four swimmers winning at least two events. Junior Caitlin Napoli led the way with event wins in the 50 freestyle and the 200 butterfly. She took the 50 freestyle in 24.94 seconds and then won the 200 butterfly in a season-best time of 2:04.70. Fellow junior Tressa Dunn also won two events, as she took the 100 freestyle in 53.67 seconds and the 200 individual medley in 2:11.40.
Freshmen Courtney Collyer and Elizabeth Dorger each grabbed two first place finishes on the night. Collyer won the 200 freestyle in 1:55.99 and the 500 freestyle in 5:09.22, both personal-best times this season. Dorger took home both diving events, capturing the one-meter with a score of 259.95 and the three-meter with a score of 238.20.
Seniors Alexandria Ukleja and Elena Munoz rounded out the individual event wins, as Ukleja won the 1000 freestyle (10:40.25) and Munoz took the 200 breaststroke (2:31.30).
In relay action, Fordham's 400 medley team of Napoli, Nicole Marshall, Collyer, and Kelly Bunster won their race in 3:58.80, while the 400 freestyle relay team of Bunster, Alessandra Alessi, Kristin Colton, and Dunn won their event in 3:38.94.
The Fordham Swimming & Diving teams will next be in action on Saturday, January 24th, as they host La Salle University at the Messmore Aquatic Center, beginning at 1:00 PM.
