Bronx, N.Y. - (Nov. 22, 2008) - The Fordham cross country teams played host to the 2008 ECAC/IC4A Championship this afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
The day started with the men's and women's coaches races, where Bucknell's Stephanie Hardentstien won the women's race in 20:02, while Marist's Brian Townsend took first in the men's race in 26:53. The top Fordham finisher in the women's race was Jana Trenk in 15th (21:29), while Erik Lawrence was the top male finisher in 12th place (27:43).
In the ECAC Championship, Cornell took top honors with a score of 67, followed by Harvard (79) and William & Mary. Harvard's Nicole Cochran took top honors, placing first in 18:04 over the 5K course.
Next up was the IC4A Championship, where Duke University came away with the title with a score of 48 points, followed by Duquesne (87) and Marist (102). Duquesne's Josh Eddy (25:11) just edged Marist's David Raucci (25:13) for first overall individually.
The ECAC University Division Championship was the next event to take place. Columbia took first overall out of 23 teams with a score of 107, followed by Sacred Heart (118), Army (120), Binghamton and Marist (137), Towson (164), Bucknell (214), and host Fordham (248).
New Hampshire's Elizabeth Campbell was the top finisher of the 5K course in 18:29, followed by Addie DiFrancesco of Marist (18:38). For Fordham, Brigid Moriarty and Kerri Gallagher both finished in the top five in virtually the same time of 18:47, with Moriarty crossing the finish line just ahead of Gallagher for fourth place.
The final event was the IC4A University Division Championship, where New Hampshire was first out of 26 teams with a score of 107, followed by Pittsburgh (137), Rutgers (195), Albany (230), Army (232), and host Fordham (234).
New Hampshire's Nicholas Decresceno took top honors over the 8K course in 25:31, just beating out NJIT's Umar Saeed (25:32). For Fordham, Brian Riley was the first Ram across the line in 16th place in 26:08, followed by Clifton Hilario in 18th (26:12).
