Haverford, Pa. - (Dec. 2, 2007) - The Fordham University squash team traveled to Haverford College on Saturday afternoon where they took on the host school along with Penn State. The Rams dropped both matches, falling to both teams by identical 7-2 scores.
In the Penn State match, Tolga Suvar and Steve Cinquino picked up the Fordham points with Suvar taking the seventh flight, 3-1, while Cinquino won at the ninth flight, 3-0. Suvar won the first two games by scores of 9-7 and 9-1, before dropping the third game, 9-7. Suvar then picked up the win with 9-1 win in game four.
Cinquino won in straight games by scores of 9-6, 9-0 and 9-2.
In the Haverford match, Cinquino and James Lechleitner won points for the Rams with Lechleitner taking eighth flight, 3-2, and Cinquino taking the ninth flight, 3-0. Lechleitner opened his match with Dan Sachs by winning the first game, 9-5, before dropping the second, 9-2. After a 9-5 win in game three by Lechleitner, Sachs forced a fifth game with a 9-6 win in game four. Lechleitner wrapped up the match with a 9-5 win in game five.
Cinquino won his match against Jake Ralston in straight games by scores of 9-7, 9-4 and 9-2.
The Fordham squash squad will next be in action on Monday, December 3rd when they travel to Columbia for an 8:00 PM match.
