Boston, Mass. - (Nov. 10, 2007) - The Fordham cross country team took part in the NCAA District Qualifier this afternoon at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts. The Rams held their own in the race, as the men were 22nd out of 34 teams, while the women were 25th out of 36 teams.
In the men's 10K race, Matt Lowenthal was the Rams' top finisher, placing 92nd overall in 32:01, followed by Tom Finnerty in 99th in 32:05. Matt Flynn placed 126th in the race (32:38), followed by Patrick McDonough (172nd - 33:33) and Justin Kopunek (174th - 33:38). Also running for Fordham, Casey Barrett was 178th (33:45), while Tim Burke was 185th (33:51).
In the women's 6K race, Melissa Salerno placed 83rd overall, as Fordham's top finisher in 22:32, while Brigid Moriarty was 108th in 22:54. Kristen Pezzuti came across the line next in 172nd (23:59), followed by Kerri Gallagher (183rd - 24:15) and Jacqueline Prevete (190th - 24:19). Susanne Hansen and Emily Kolodgy also competed for Fordham, placing 192nd (24:24) and 213th (24:55), respectively.
The Fordham cross country teams will next be in action on Saturday, November 17th, as they compete at the ECAC/IC4A Championships, held at Van Cortlandt Park.
