Atlantic 10 Release
Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham sophomore midfielder
Bruno Cellerino (Milan, Italy/Edmondo Deamicis (Missouri State)) was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week it was announced by the conference on Monday. It is the first weekly honor for the sophomore.
In a 2-1 Atlantic 10 win at VCU on Saturday, Cellerino accounted for both Fordham goals. He put the visiting Rams on the board in the 17th minute after collecting a pass from
Gavin Flickinger just outside the box on the left. He took two dribbles to the edge of the box, and lofted a high arching shot that the wind helped guide to the far corner.
The score remained at 1-0 until the 68th minute when Cellerino settled the ball from a VCU defender and dribbled into the box where he got off a left-footed blast at beat the VCU keeper to the right side.
Cellerino becomes the third Ram to earn A10 weekly honors, joining
Arata Mizuno and
Marco Cantalapiedra who each were named Rookie of the Week earlier this season.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 3, as they travel to St. Bonaventure, N.Y., to take on the St. Bonaventure University Bonnies in an Atlantic 10 match at 4:00 p.m.
