Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham men's soccer squad channeled their inner Buddha today, following his belief that "No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again." Despite a challenging nonconference slate that didn't go the Rams' way, they opened the Atlantic 10 season today with a 2-0 win over Loyola Chicago at Moglia Stadium.
With the win, Fordham improves to 3-4-1 overall while Loyola Chicago falls to 5-2-2 overall.
The Rams took an early 1-0 lead in the 23
rd minute when sophomore
Bruno Cellerino settled a loose ball that had been crossed into the box and fired off a one-timer from ten yards to the lower right corner.
Fordham made it a 2-0 game in the 90
th minute when freshman
Arata Mizuno collected a long pass from
Fabio Sebastian Sanchez, dribbled for about 25 yards and them beat the Loyola Chicago keeper on the ground from 15 yards.

Shayon Kashi made four saves in the Fordham net for his third clean sheet of the season.
• Cellerino and Mizuno scored their first collegiate goals.
• Shots in the game were even at eleven each.
• The Rams took eight corners to just two for the Ramblers.
• This was be the seventh meeting between the Rams and the Ramblers.
• Loyola Chicago leads the all-time series, which started in 1997, 4-2-1, taking
the first four meetings.

• The Rams continue Atlantic 10 play by traveling to Richmond, Va., to face the VCU Rams on Saturday, September 26, at 3:00 p.m.

• The all-time series, which started in 2012, is tied at 4-4-5.
• Fordham has taken the past two meetings, and four of the past five, including a 5-1 win at Moglia Stadium last year as five different Fordham players scored.
