Sam Delgado (Vienna, Va./James Madison (William & Mary)) was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week it was announced by the conference today. It is the first weekly honor for the grad student and the second straight Offensive Player of the Week award for the Rams as Delgado joins
Bruno Cellerino who received the honor last week.
In a 2-2 Atlantic 10 draw at St. Bonaventure on Saturday, Delgado accounted for both Fordham goals, despite the Rams playing a man down for most of the match. His first tally came when a rebound of a shot was tapped to him and buried it from ten years to tie the score at one in the 22nd minute
About seven minutes later, in the 29
th minute,
Bruno Cellerino looped a pass into the box for Delgado, who flicked it over the Bonnies keeper to the far side for his second goal of the game.
Delgado becomes the fourth Ram to earn A10 weekly honors, joining Cellerino and freshmen
Arata Mizuno and
Marco Cantalapiedra who each were named Rookie of the Week earlier this season.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday, October 7, as they host the defending A10 champions, Saint Louis University, at Moglia Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
