Bronx, N.Y. – (February 1, 2025) – The Fordham squash team extended its win streak to six games on Saturday, but it took everything for the Rams to do so, defeating NYU, 5-4, and Colgate, 9-0, at the Lombardi Squash Courts.
Fordham is now 15-5 on the season.
The first match of the day went down to the wire, as the team decision wasn't decided until the final game of the final match.
Fordham and NYU split the first four matches with Fordham's
Jack Stanley winning his second slot match in five games, 13-15, 11-6, 11-6, 5-11, and 12-10 over Andrew Pang, while
Robert Cruikshank took a five-game decision at fourth position over Mojmir Zalesak, 13-11, 11-4, 7-11, 9-11, and 11-5.
The Rams and Violets continued to play it tight, as the next four matches also broke even, leaving the team score tied at four all.
Bennett Van Liew recorded the lone non-five game win for Fordham, as he toppled Felix Tsai in four games, 11-8, 4-11, 11-3, and 11-8.
Charlie Friedman then finished off Alexander Gan in five games at fifth position, 11-8, 11-9, 1-11, 5-11, and 11-6.
The deciding point came down to the ninth position match between Armaan Srivastava of NYU and Fordham's
Lucas Isaacman. Isaacman, playing in his first match of the season for the Rams rallied from down two games to one to take the match in five games, 8-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, and 11-6.
The Rams had an easier time in match two against Colgate, as the Raiders defaulted two matches with only seven players available.
Fordham then went on to win the remaining seven matches in three-game sweeps.
Adam Sakr (1
st – 11-8, 11-6, 11-7), Cruikshank (2
nd – 11-6, 11-5, 11-4), Friedman (3
rd – 11-0, 11-2, 11-7), and
Nathan Martinez (4
th – 11-1, 11-4, 11-0) earned wins at the top four positions, while
Sofia Arseniev (5
th – 11-1, 11-4, 11-4),
Crispin McCarthy (6
th – 11-8, 11-7, 11-3), and
Aarav Jhunjhunwala (7
th – 11-4, 11-2, 11-7) closed out the final three slots.
Fordham will next be in action on Saturday, February 8
th, when they host Princeton Club (9:30 AM) at the Lombardi Squash Courts.
