James Conway one tackle shy of NCAA Division I record

BRONX, N.Y. -  The Fordham University Rams close out the 2025 Patriot League season, Fordham's 125th varsity season, by traveling to Washington, D.C>, to face the Georgetown University Hoyas at Cooper Field on Saturday, November 15, at 1:00 p.m.

The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Jeremy Huber (p-b-p) and Christian Taylor (analyst) announcing and broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and the WFUV YouTube channel with Chris Carrino (p-b-p) and Brendan Shorey (analyst) handling the announcing chores.

Fordham grad student linebacker James Conway enters the game with 576 career tackles, one shy of the NCAA Division I record of 577 set by Troy's Carlton Martial from 2018-22, and is five short of the Fordham single season record of 145 set by Mark Blazejewski in 1991. Earlier this year he broke the NCAA FCS record of 550 career tackles set by Boomer Grigsby of Illinois State from 2001-04 (the NCAA has recorded tackles as an official stat since 2000).

Fordham enters the game with a 1-9 record, 1-5 in the Patriot League, and is coming off a 37-19 League loss to Bucknell at Moglia Stadium last Saturday while Georgetown enters with a 5-5 overall record, 2-3 in the Patriot League following a 31-24 home Patriot League loss to Richmond last week.

It will be the 71st meeting between Fordham and Georgetown on the gridiron. The Rams lead the all-time series, which started in 1889, 43-24-3. Fordham has won four of the last five meetings, including a 31-3 win at Moglia Stadium last November as Jack Capaldi completed 12 of 25 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns.
