Princeton, N.J. – (April 12, 2024) – Competition at the two-day Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted at Princeton University, began on Friday afternoon, with the Fordham Rams taking part in eight total events.
The day began with the lone field event for the Rams, the women's long jump.
Leia Ruvo was the top Fordham finisher in 11
th place with a season-best mark of 17' 8 ¾", while
Skylar Harris was 16
th at 17' 2 ¾".
Next were the elite editions of the 800-meter run.
Mary Kathryn Underwood took part in the women's event, placing 40
th in 2:16.05, with
Yariv Simhony in the men's event, taking 34
th overall in a season-best time of 1:54.16.
Then in the women's 5,000-meter run,
Sarah Zahaykevich was 14
th overall in 17:49.43, followed by
Madeleine Ryan in 20
th at 18:11.39.
The Rams then had a pair of runners in the men's 1,500 meters.
Rodolfo Sanchez had an impressive run, grabbing second overall in a season-best time of 3:49.91, while
Colin Flood was 12
th in 3:51.47.
Fordham's next set on runners came in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with
Meredith Gotzman in the women's event and
Darren Croke in the men's. Gotzman registered a time of 10:53.56, good for ninth overall with Croke in 19
th at 9:52.43.
The final day one competitor was
Steven Zucca in the men's 10,000-meter run, as he rallied for a second-place finish in a season-best time of 30:33.98.
Day two of the Larry Ellis Invitational begins at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
