LA JOLLA, Calif. – Freshman Felix Luetke Meyring carded a one-under 71 on Monday to lead the Rams during the second round of the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines' North Course.
The Rams sit in eighth place on the 17-team leaderboard entering Tuesday's final round. North Dakota State (+1) is five shots clear of second-place Idaho at the top of the ledger. North Dakota State's Jack Johnson and Idaho's Johannes Hounsgaard are tied for the individual lead at -3 after 36 holes.Â
Luetke Meyring, who was tied for 23rd after an opening-round 75, jumped into a share of 12th place, five shots back of the lead, heading into Tuesday's final round. The Shanghai native carded five birdies, including ones on 9 and 17 to lower his par 5 scoring to -6 on the tournament.
Jake Mrva followed his opening 73 with a second-round 74 to grab a share of 20th place with 18 holes remaining.
Chris Konefal fired off an even-par 72 on Monday, logging 14 pars on his way to the team's second lowest round of the day.
Tucker Silva birdied three of his first four holes on the day before finishing with a 76, a four-shot improvement from Sunday's opening round.
AJ DePaolo rounded out the Rams' scorers with an 83.
Competing as individuals, Mashu Nishi carded an 80 to fall into a tie for 75th while Bryan Ruland posted an 82.
The Rams will wrap the UC San Diego Invitational on Tuesday with a 4 p.m. ET shotgun start.
