Liam Howard shoots career-best 67 in first round; paces Rams with a tie for fourth

Kingston, N.Y. – The Fordham golf squad participated in one last event prior to the Atlantic 10 Championships, finishing in tied for ninth at The Roar-EE Invitational at the Wiltwtck Golf Course hosted by Columbia University.
 
The Rams were paced by sophomore Liam Howard, who shot a career-best 67 over the first round and a 73 in the second for a four-under 140, tying him for fourth overall out of 90 golfers, seven shots behind the winner. He carded five birdies in shooting the 67 over the first 18 holes and three more on par-5 holes over the second. He birdied the final three holes of the first round for a 32 on the back nine in notching his career-best 67, one better than his previous best of 68 shot at the Alberta Collegiate Invitational last week.
 
It was the seventh time in nine tournaments this season that Howard finished 15th or better.
 
Freshman Kieran Cummins turned in a 75 and 71 for a two round score of 146, two over par, to tie for 35th overall. He recorded eight birdies over the two rounds, five of those coming in the second round.
 
Junior AJ DePaolo was third highest scorer for the Rams, shooting a 71 and 76 for a three-over 147, tying him for 42nd, carding seven birdies over the 36 holes.
 
Junior Luke Brower, who birdied two of the final three holes in round two, shot a 74 and 75 for a 149, five over par, to tie for 57th overall, while Eli Kaufman recorded a 76 and 74 for a 150, to tie for 63rd overall.
 
Fairfield won the team title with a two round score of 561, followed by Columbia and Iona who tied for second at 567. Fordham finished in a ninth place tie with Cornell and Siena with a team score of four-over-par 580.
 
The Rams will travel to Orlando, Fla., to compete in the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championships at the Evermore Orlando Resort beginning on Monday, April 27.
