Virginia Beach, Va. – (February 24, 2024) – The 2024 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship has wrapped up at the Virginia Beach Sports Center with Fordham placing eighth out of 11 teams in the men's championship.
 
Rhode Island won its fifth consecutive championship, scoring 227 points, with George Mason in second (142) and VCU in third (92).  Saint Louis grabbed fourth at 62 points, followed by Massachusetts (60), Saint Joseph's (57), Loyola Chicago (51), Fordham (34), Davidson (27), La Salle (27), and St. Bonaventure (0).
 
Fordham scored in six events on day two, highlighted by 
Rodolfo Sanchez earning the silver medal and Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 8:19.05.  
Steven Zucca also scored in the 3,000 meters, placing fifth in 8:22.53.
 
In the finals of the 500 meters, 
Kevin Callaghan scored eighth in 1:06.04, followed by 
Nathan Bezuneh grabbing seventh in the 1,000-meter run in 2:31.28.
 
Colin Flood was the last individual scorer, taking home fifth in the mile run, clocking in at 4:13.78.  Flood was also a part of the 4x800 relay with 
Trevor Rinn, 
Sean Reidy, and 
Darren Croke that just missed the podium in fourth place at 7:42.47.
 
The last points for the Rams were scored by the 4x400 relay team of 
Dakota Strain, 
Erik Brown, 
Matthew Nurse and 
Sam Freeman, who took sixth in 3:19.41.
 
In other events, 
Justin Rhee was tenth in the triple jump with a distance of 43' 4 ¾", while 
George Pomer finished 10
th in the heptathlon with 3,698 points.
 
The 800-meter run saw 
Trevor Rinn take tenth in 1:54.31 with 
Yariv Simhony in 22
nd at 2:01.36, while 
Liam Volz was 17
th in the 200-meter dash in 23.04 seconds.
 
The Rams will next be in action on March 2-3 as qualified members compete at the ECAC/IC4A Championship in Boston, Massachusetts.
