Philadelphia, Pa. – (February 18, 2024) – The Fordham squash team wrapped up their stay at the 2024 CSA Team Championship on Sunday, winning the fifth place match of the Conroy Cup over Bard College, 9-0.
The win moved Fordham to 19-9 on the season.
Starting with a 1-0 lead courtesy of a default point, Fordham earned the next six points with three-game sweeps at the third through eighth positions.
Jack Stanley earned his second win of the weekend over Will Egan at third position, 11-1, 11-2, and 11-3, while
Peter Vorbach defeated Ali Rajabi at fourth position, 11-0, 11-3, and 11-3.
Robert Cruikshank took his fifth slot match from Ahmad Jalil, 11-1, 11-3, and 11-2, with
Gray Kearns topping Jacob Nathan at the sixth slot, 11-0, 11-1, and 11-2.
The run of wins continued with
Sofia Arseniev at seventh position (11-1, 11-0, 11-2) and
Nicholas Choo at the eighth spot (11-1, 11-1, 11-1).
That left the top two positions to complete a sweep of Bard.
Nicholas Gilman worked his way to a five-game comeback win, downing Artemy Mukhin at first position, 11-7, 6-11, 9-11, 12-10, and 11-6.
Henry Frawley then completed the team sweep with a three-game sweep of Luca Heidelberg at the second slot, 11-4, 11-7, and 11-0.
Fordham will next be in action on Saturday, March, 2
nd, as they play Cal and UCLA at Access Youth Academy in San Diego, California.
