Bronx, N.Y. – (October 26, 2024) – The Fordham squash team posted a Saturday road sweep in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., defeating Vassar and Bard at the Vassar Courts.
The Rams started the day with a 6-3 win over Vassar.
Fordham won four of the top five slot matches to start the day.
Bennett Van Liew had the top win at second position, defeating Jarid Haslinger, 14-12, 9-11, 11-6, and 11-5, while
Jack Stanley won his third slot match over Kyle Benson, 12-10, 8-11, 11-5, 8-11, and 11-4.
Peter Vorbach earned a win at fourth position over Matthew Okulski, 3-11, 12-10, 11-2, and 11-8 with
Adam Sakr topping Gabriel Lugo at fifth position, 6-11, 11-8, 11-3, 7-11, and 11-4.
Charlie Friedman (6
th) and
Gray Kearns (9
th) also captured wins for the Rams.
Against Bard, Fordham easily took the win, 8-1, as Bard only had four players.
In addition to the five default wins, Fordham took matches at the second, third, and fourth positions.
Robert Cruikshank topped Jacob Nathan at second position, 11-0, 11-0, and 11-0, while Kearns defeated Suliman Zafarkhil at third position, 11-0, 11-0, and 11-1.
Joe Walsh had the final win over Kasiem Washington at the fourth slot, 11-0, 11-3, and 11-1.
Fordham squash will next be in action on November 9-10 at the Navy Round Robin in Annapolis, Maryland.
