San Jose, Calif. – (October 26, 2024) – The train that is the Fordham water polo team just keeps rolling, as the Rams ran their undefeated record to 20-0 on Saturday with a 20-6 win over UC Merced as part of the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament.
Out of the gate, Fordham scored six times in the first quarter for a 6-1 lead.
Luca Provenziani had two of the six goals with
Balazs Berenyi,
Andras Toth,
Marco Napolitano, and
Barnabas Eppel picking up the other markers.
The Rams added five more tallies in the second, pulling out to an 11-2 advantage, and never looked back, netting three in the third quarter and six more in the fourth for the 14-goal win.
For Fordham, Toth led all scorers with four goals to go with four steals, while Berenyi had three. Provenziani and Napolitano each had two goals and two assists with Papanikolaou dishing out four assists to go with a goal. In net, all three Fordham goalies played with
Thomas Lercari having three saves in two quarters,
Kristof Magony making three in a quarter of play, and
Reggie Robles having two in a quarter of action.
The Rams conclude play at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament on Sunday, October 27
th, as Fordham plays Air Force at 12:20 PM ET (9:20 AM PT).
