Stockton, Calif. – (April 11-12, 2026) – Competing in one of the highest profile offseason events and featuring some of the top teams in the United States, the Fordham water polo team won the 2026 Pacific Cup over the weekend, hosted by the University of the Pacific.  Here is a recap of the weekend for the Rams:

Fordham opened the weekend on Saturday with an 18-14 win over the U-18 U.S. National Team.

In the semifinal, Fordham earned a 16-14 win over Stanford to clinch a spot in the championship final.

The game started Saturday with Fordham leading, 7-5 in the second quarter, but due to thunderstorms and the outdoor venue, the match was suspended and resumed on Sunday.

The Rams built up a four-goal lead by the end of the third quarter, 12-8, and then despite a six-goal fourth quarter by the Cardinal, Fordham was able to net four in the final frame to win by two.

Provenziani and Salipante each scored four times in the game with Tresa adding three tallies.  Toth and Mark Dyck also netted two goals apiece in the match with Matthew Bonello DuPuis making eight saves in net.

The championship match saw Fordham take on San Jose State, who defeated UCLA earlier on Sunday.

Leading 6-5 at the half, the Rams scored twice, while holding the Spartans off the scoreboard to extend the lead to 8-5 after three quarters.  Fordham outscored San Jose State 3-2 in the final period to win the Pacific Cup by an 11-6 score.
