Bronx, N.Y. – (January 27, 2024) – The Fordham squash team took care of business on Saturday morning, winning a pair of matches to increase their win streak to five at the Lombardi Squash Courts, and send off their seniors,
Nicholas Choo and
Henry Frawley, on a winning note.
Saturday started with an 8-1 win over Dartmouth Club.
Fordham opened with a 1-0 lead, as Dartmouth had only eight players. The Rams made quick work of the Big Green, winning the next six matches in three games.
Sofia Arseniev (11-1, 11-1, 11-0) and
Gray Kearns (11-0, 11-2, 11-0) quickly dispensed of Arnie Singh and Arsh Singh, respectively, at the eighth and seventh positions.
Robert Cruikshank then took care of Zach Shah at the sixth slot, 11-3, 11-2 and 11-3.
Frawley (3
rd),
Jack Stanley (4
th), and
Peter Vorbach (5
th) each earned three games wins to put Fordham up, 7-0, in the match.
Nicholas Gilman then closed out the team victory at first position with a four-game win over Avijit Singh, 10-12, 11-8, 11-5, and 11-7.
In match two, Fordham posted a 9-0 sweep against Drexel Club.
The Rams shifted the order position with Frawley earning a first position win over Theo Rosenberg in three games, 11-5, 11-3, and 11-3, while Vorbach won at the second slot over Jacob Paugh , 11-1, 11-1, 11-1.
Kearns (3
rd) and Arseniev (4
th) each earned their second win of the day, taking out Daniel Oakey (11-3, 11-2, 11-2) and Max Wix (11-3, 11-0, 11-2).
Choo picked up a win at fifth position over Mary Catherine Touloupis, 11-1, 11-1, and 11-2 with Cirsipn McCarthy (6
th),
Edwin Hess (7
th), and
Aarav Jhunjhunwala (8
th) rounding out the wins for the Rams.
The Rams will next be in action on February 3-4 as they partake in the Denison Round Robin in Gambier, Ohio. Fordham will face off with Notre Dame, Chicago, and Michigan over the two-day stretch.
