Newport News, Va. – (September 18, 2023) – The Atlantic 10 Conference released its weekly women's soccer awards today with Fordham freshman midfielder
Lena Johnsen (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) selected as the league's Rookie of the Week.
This is Johnsen's first career weekly award and the first for a Ram this season.
Johnsen played a big part in Fordham's comeback win over George Mason on Thursday night. With Fordham trailing 2-1, she netted the game-tying goal against the Patriots and later assisted on the game-winning goal. She also added a pair of shots in the Rams' 0-0 draw at George Washington to close out her week.
Through nine games this season, Johnsen is tied for second on the Rams in scoring with two goals and two assists for six points.
Johnsen and the rest of the Rams continue their season on Thursday, September 21
st, as Fordham hosts St. Bonaventure for a 5:00 PM start at Moglia Stadium.
