Women's Soccer Knocks Out Saint Joseph's, 4-1

Liina Tervo Posts Her Third Multi-Goal Game of the Season for the Rams

Bronx, N.Y. – (September 25, 2025) – Led by Liina Tervo's two-goal performance, the Fordham women's soccer team posted a 4-1 win over the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Thursday night at Moglia Stadium.

Fordham improved to 6-3-1 overall, 1-1 in Atlantic 10 action.

THE GAME
  • Fordham opened the scoring in the tenth minute, as out of a scrum, Renata Mercedes got the ball to Salma Simonin.  She quickly put a through ball to Liina Tervo, who poked home her team-leading seventh goal of the season.
  • The Rams made it 2-0 in the 24th minute.  Off a throw-in, Tervo laid the ball off to Simonin, who placed a perfect cross to the top of the six-yard box.  Julia Acosta was right there to deflect the ball in for her second goal of the year.
  • Fordham went up 3-0 in the 43rd minute, when Riley Carroll fought off a pair of defenders to find Caroline Kelleher for a one-timer that snuck inside the left post for her second marker of the campaign.
  • After the Hawks scored early in the second half to make it 3-1, Tervo closed out the game with her second tally of the match in the 71st minute with a brilliant dash into the open field, tucking a shot from 15 yards out under the crossbar for the 4-1 win.
