Bronx, N.Y. – (September 25, 2025) – Led by
Liina Tervo's two-goal performance, the Fordham women's soccer team posted a 4-1 win over the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Thursday night at Moglia Stadium.
Fordham improved to 6-3-1 overall, 1-1 in Atlantic 10 action.
THE GAME
- Fordham opened the scoring in the tenth minute, as out of a scrum, Renata Mercedes got the ball to Salma Simonin. She quickly put a through ball to Liina Tervo, who poked home her team-leading seventh goal of the season.
- The Rams made it 2-0 in the 24th minute. Off a throw-in, Tervo laid the ball off to Simonin, who placed a perfect cross to the top of the six-yard box. Julia Acosta was right there to deflect the ball in for her second goal of the year.
- Fordham went up 3-0 in the 43rd minute, when Riley Carroll fought off a pair of defenders to find Caroline Kelleher for a one-timer that snuck inside the left post for her second marker of the campaign.
- After the Hawks scored early in the second half to make it 3-1, Tervo closed out the game with her second tally of the match in the 71st minute with a brilliant dash into the open field, tucking a shot from 15 yards out under the crossbar for the 4-1 win.
GAME NOTES
- This was the third multi-goal game of the season for Liina Tervo and fourth of her career.
- Julia Acosta is the fourth different Ram to record a game-winning goal this season (Tervo, Mercedes, Johnsen).
- Kyla King recorded three saves for the Ram, improving to 5-2-0 on the year.
- The Rams have scored at least two goals in all six wins this season.
