Bronx, N.Y. - As the 2022-2023 season begins to wind down, the Fordham University Athletic Department held its 89th annual Block F Awards Dinner in the Rose Hill Gym on Wednesday night to honor Fordham University's student-athletes for their accomplishments during the academic year.

Among those honored were football's
Tim DeMorat, who was the recipient of the Vincent T. Lombardi Award as Fordham's top male student-athlete, women's basketball's
Asiah Dingle, recipient of the Claire and Jack Hobbs Award as Fordham's top female student-athlete, and head women's tennis coach
Michael Sowter and head men's basketball coach
Keith Urgo, who received the Iron Major Award as Fordham's Co-Coach of the Year.

Additionally, grad student linebacker
Ryan Greenhagen received the Terence O'Donnell Award while DeMorat and senior wide receiver
Fotis Kokosioulis were named football co-MVPs. Student manager Emma Kimble received the Kenneally Award and Academic Advisor
Sister Anne Walsh was honored with a Celebration of Service award.

The Vincent T. Lombardi Award is presented to the Male Athlete of the Year for distinguished athletic achievements in the winning tradition of Vince Lombardi. The award honors the memory of one of Fordham's famed Seven Blocks of Granite, who is considered one of football's greatest coaches.

DeMorat, who finished as the runner-up for the 2022 Walter Payton Award (NCAA FCS National Player of the Year), earned his third straight Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year award in 2022. Named to five All-America teams, he completed 326 of 499 passes (65.3%) for 4,891 yards and 56 touchdowns, setting the school single season record for passing yards and touchdowns (also a Patriot League record). He led the NCAA FCS in passing yards, passing yards/game (414.6), and total offense (411.6 yards/game) and was second in passing touchdowns and passing efficiency (180.7). DeMorat also set the school and Patriot League career records for completions (1,032) and passing yards (13,454).

Kokosioulis was named the team co-MVP along with DeMorat. A 2022 consensus All-American Kokosioulis had the greatest season for a wide receiver in Fordham history last fall. He set the school record for most receptions in a season (103) and tied the school mark for touchdown catches (14) while his 1,312 receiving yards was third best single season at Fordham.
The Claire & Jack Hobbs Memorial Award is presented to the Female Athlete of the Year who has achieved outstanding athletic accomplishments. The award is named in honor of the late Claire and Jack Hobbs. Jack was a 1938 graduate of Fordham College and a 1941 graduate of Fordham Law, and he and his wife were avid Fordham followers.Â
Dingle, the 2023 Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Year, earned First Team All-Conference and All-Defensive Team honors in 2022-23. She led the Rams to their seventh WNIT postseason appearance as she led the Atlantic 10 in scoring (19.2 ppg) and steals (3.5/game). Dingle ranked fourth in the NCAA in steals/game and broke Fordham's long-standing single-season record for steals (111), setting a program single-game record of 10 steals against Saint Peter's.

Sowter picks up his first Iron Major award as the Fordham Coach of the Year after leading the women's tennis squad to its first ever Atlantic 10 title. The Rams defeated three-time defending champions VCU last Sunday to win the championship and move on to their first ever NCAA Championship appearance. Fordham will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, on Friday to face Princeton in the first round.

Urgo also earns his first Iron Major award in his first year as a head coach. It's not his only Coach of the Year honor as he was also named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year as well as the recipient of the Joe B. Hall Award, presented annually to the NCAA First Year Coach of the Year. He led the Rams to 25 wins this year, one shy of the school record, and a second place tie in the Atlantic 10 conference, Fordham's best ever finish

The night opened with a special recognition of members of the Fordham Community as
Martha Hirst, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer at Fordham University, was presented with an honorary letter by Director of Athletics, Ed Kull. Kull also presented long-time athletic academic advisor
Sister Anne Walsh, RSHM, with a special Celebration of Service award.

Patrick Kenneally Award – Emma Kimble (Football Manager)/Adam Wernoch (Men's Basketball Manager): The Patrick Kenneally Award is presented to a Fordham student who serves the Athletic Department in capacities other than athletic participation. The award honors the memory of Pat Kenneally, equipment and business manager for 54 years.

Kimble has been with the Fordham football program for the past three years, serving as the head manager in 2022. She does it all, from assisting at practice to helping to run recruiting weekends and managing the team's social media presence.

Wernoch has been with the men's basketball program for the past four years, serving as head manager this past year. like Kimble, he does all the behind the scenes things to help the team succeed, including assisting with the transition to a new head coach in each of the past two years.

Terence O'Donnell Award (Sportsmanship & Dedication) – Ryan Greenhagen (Football): The O'Donnell Memorial Award is presented to the Fordham athlete who best exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship, loyalty, dedication and self-discipline. The award is in memory of Terry O'Donnell, a 1955 graduate who died in a military plane crash shortly after graduation.

Greenhagen, who served as a football team captain in 2022, is the epitome of what the O'Donnell award represents. He would routinely stay out after practice to work with younger players, leading by example, both on and off the field. In the classroom, he earned Academic All-America® honors for third straight season and was one of 15 finalists for the prestigious Walter Campbell Trophy (academic Heisman) as well as being named Patriot League Football Student-Athlete of the Year.

Jack Coffey Award –
Charlie Elwood (Deputy Athletic Director for Business Administration, Operations, and Finance Performance): The Jack Coffey award is presented to a Fordham administrator, alumnus or coach for outstanding contributions and dedication to the athletic program. It is named for the late Jack Coffey, long-time baseball coach and graduate manager of Athletics.

Elwood has been a member of the athletic department for over 20 years. Over that time he has impacted every program at Fordham, serving as a team administrator for football, basketball, baseball, and soccer among other sports. He was also a member of the NCAA Division I men's soccer committee and the Atlantic 10 men's soccer championships committee.

Benedict T. Harter Award – Mallory Lipski (Volleyball): The Benedict T. Harter award is presented to the Gabelli School of Business senior athlete who has made significant academic and athletic contributions. The award honors Ben Harter, Gabelli School of Business Class of 1939, a former dean of both Fordham's undergraduate and graduate schools of business, who was an avid follower and supporter of Fordham Athletics.Â

Lipski is a four-year member of the volleyball program. A business administration major with concentrations in marketing and management, she appeared in all 108 sets this year, leading the Rams and ranking third in the Atlantic 10 in digs per set.

Kieran Award – Clare Culver (Women's Swimming & Diving): The Kieran Award, presented to the Fordham College senior athlete who has made significant academic and athletic contributions. The award honors the memory of John Kieran, Fordham College Class of 1912, and a famous radio broadcaster, sports editor of the New York Times and a member of Baseball's Hall of Fame.

Culver is a four-year member of the women's swimming and diving program. A psychology major with a minor in bioethics, she is a two-time Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference selection and medaled twice at the 2023 Atlantic 10 championship.

Kiwanis Community Service – Whitley Moody (Volleyball): Fordham Kiwanis is part of a worldwide service organization that is committed to improving the quality of life through volunteer action. The members of Fordham Kiwanis, comprised of university faculty, staff, and administrators, wish to recognize student-athletes who not only excel in academics and in their respective sports, but who are also committed to working in community service activities.

Moody has been a member of the Fordham volleyball team for the past three years. She founded Fordham SAAC's "Leave our Mark" program as well as assisting with the Fordham Athletics holiday food drive which donated 550 meals to POTS. Moody was also instrumental in coordinating both a female hygiene/health product drive to celebrate Women's History Month and in Fordham Athletics' participation in the university-wide Earth Day celebration.

Marty Glickman Award – Sam Davis: Presented to the WFUV student play-by-play announcer who best follows the examples taught by Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Glickman. The award honors the memory of Marty Glickman, who was the broadcast coach at WFUV from 1987-99.

Ignatian Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Award – Allison Lin (Women's Swimming & Diving)/Jordan Bowles (Women's Track and Field): The Ignatian Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award is presented to a student-athlete and staff/coach who has gone above and beyond in doing the difficult work of bringing diversity, equity, and inclusion issues to the forefront in the Athletic Department.

Lin, a four-year member of the women's swimming and diving team, is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council, serving as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion representative. Lin strives to make Fordham a more inclusive, diverse, and accepting place for all student-athletes.

Bowles, is the force behind all Fordham Athletics Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives, serving as the senior associate athletic director for strategic initiatives and diversity, equity, and inclusion and is a member of the DEI facilitator group.
