Bronx, N.Y. – (May 16, 2023) - The 2023 Academic All‐District® Baseball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, was released on Tuesday and recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom.
Among this year's honorees were Fordham's
Peter DeMaria (Chatham, N.J.) and
Ryan Thiesse (St. Charles, Ill.).
A graduate transfer from Tufts University, DeMaria boasts a 3.92 GPA as he studies Finance in the Gabelli Graduate School of Business. DeMaria has had an outstanding year for the Rams, earning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors once. In 47 games this season, he is batting .294 with 35 runs scored, nine doubles, 11 home runs, and a team-best 40 RBI.
Thiesse, a junior outfielder, has a 3.56 GPA in Finance and is a two-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. He has been the Rams' starting centerfielder all season long and has had a career-year. Thus far, he has posted personal bests in runs scored (39), hits (55), doubles (5), home runs (5), RBI (23), and stolen bases (19). He currently ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 in stolen bases this season.
First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 7 for baseball.
