Lions Outdoor Invitational Results
Philadelphia Pa./Ewing, N.J. – (April 28, 2023) – Through some difficult weather conditions, the Fordham track & field team started action at both the Penn Relays in Philadelphia and the Lions Outdoor Invitational in Ewing, New Jersey.
In New Jersey,
Casey Metzler was the lone field competitor on day one of the Lions Outdoor Invitational, taking part in the women's hammer throw event. She finished tenth overall with a distance of 129' 11".
The track saw Rams compete in the 800-meter and 1500-meter invitational events. The 800 meters saw
Eric Jacobson take fourth in the men's event at 1:57.53 with
Christopher Strzelinski in seventh in 2:00.40. For the women,
Taylor Mascetta grabbed fourth in 2:21.28 with
Abigail Llach in 18
th at 2:29.18.
Caitrina Barton led a trio of Rams in the women's 1500 meters, placing ninth in 5:03.21 with
Alexis Smith in 11
th (5:05.76) and
Nicoleta Papavasilakis in 16
th (5:17.32).
Then in Philadelphia, Fordham started its Penn Relays stay in the women's college 4x100 relay, where the group of
Dillyn Green,
Kyla Hill,
Kathryn Kelly, and
Skylar Harris just missed qualifying for Saturday's final, placing tenth in 47.43 seconds.
Next were the heats of the men's 4x100 relay Eastern division, where the Rams' team of
Christian Weddington,
Kenneth Maxwell,
Liam Volz, and
Matthew Nurse, qualified third for Saturday's final in 42.74 seconds.
Focus then turned to the field events, with Kelly competing in the women's long jump and
Jana Rokitta taking part in the women's high jump. Kelly ended up 11
th overall with a distance of 18' 6", while Rokitta tied for 16
th overall at 5' ½".
Finally, it was the heats of the women's college 4x400 relay and the men's 4x400 relay Eastern division. First, Green,
Alexandra Williams, Kelly, and
Molly Mulvaney ran 4:01.36 in the women's 4x400, good for 15
th overall. Then, it was
Kevin Callaghan,
Erik Brown,
Zalen Nelson, and
Matthew Nurse in the men's race, qualifying third for Saturday's final in 3:22.14.
Action continues at both meets with weather pending on Saturday.
