GLEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Fordham rowing team proved sensational in its "home" regatta on Saturday, turning in a nearly flawless performance at the Spring Metropolitan Championships.

The novice 4+ began the action for Fordham in the morning, winning its heat with a time of 7:50:14. Scheduled for later in the afternoon, the final was canceled due to inclement weather, giving the team of

Eliza Collins (3),
Seneca Farhy (4) and Oliva Evangelista (coxswain) a third-place finish based on heat times behind LIU and Sacred Heart.

Next up for the Rams came a pair of strong showings in the Varsity 4+ heats, as the First Varsity 4 crew of

Carley Walker (2),
Anna Hinck (3),
Bailey Scherdorf (4) and
Charlotte Maravelis (coxswain) won its heat by 30 seconds over Iona with a time of 5:24.658. The Second Varsity 4 boat consisting of
Molly Ewing (1),
Jordan Schmidt (2),
Aya Hubbard-Cree (3),
Fiona Eves (4) and
Sophie Davis (coxswain) also cruised to victory in its heat, besting second-place Stony Brook by nearly 13 seconds with a time of 5:26.729.

In the Second Varsity 8 final, Fordham captured two of the top three spots, as the Second Varsity 8 boat of

Catherine Samia (2),

Next up in the Varsity 8 final, the Rams needed just 6:46.690 to capture the event title, finishing 14 seconds in front of second-place Sacred Heart. The boat consisted of

The Rams dominated their final race of the day, taking both first and second in the Varsity 4+. The First Varsity 4 boat finished in 5:24.943, more than 15 seconds ahead of the Rams' Second Varsity 4 scull and 30 seconds ahead of Stony Brook in third.

Fordham will return to action next weekend, taking on Sacred Heart, Bryant, Monmouth and Fairfield in Shelton, Conn., at Beacon Point Marine.
