EASTON, Pa. – Paced by a pair of one-under efforts from
P.J. O'Rourke and
Andreas Aivazoglou, the Fordham golf team finished the first day of the ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational in 12
th place.

The Fordham scorers, who sit just eight strokes back of seventh place, carded a 12-over 300 during the first 18 holes of play at Northampton Country Club near the campus of Lafayette University.

Lehigh leads the bunched 18-team field after one round with a team score of 279. Individually, Fairfield's Killian McGinley is two shots clear of a three-way tie for second after a six-under 66. Â

O'Rourke and Aivazoglou both carded a one-under 71 to earn a share of 16
th place after Sunday afternoon's opening round. After logging a double bogey on his opening hole of the afternoon,  O'Rourke played his final 17 holes in three under, including five birdies. Beginning with a birdie on 10, his fourth hole of the day, O'Rourke posted a red number on five of his next 11 holes. Aivazoglou began his round on the eighth hole with a par before rattling off three straight birdies on holes 9-11. Following a double-bogey six on the 12
th, the senior from Newtown Square, Pa., ended his afternoon with 14 consecutive pars.

Competing as an individual,
Chris Konefal registered a two-over 72 to finish the opening round in a tie for 41
st.

Following a triple bogey to open his afternoon,
Jake Mrva played his final 17 holes in just two over to grab a share of 65
th place.

Last Friday's Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week,
Nicholas Manning rounded out the Rams' scoring efforts with an 81.Â
John Kryscio carded an 84.

The Rams will wrap up action at the ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational on Monday. Tee times off both the first and 10
th holes will begin at 9 a.m.
