Princeton, N.J. – (April 15, 2023) – The Fordham track & field team looked forward to a full day of competition on the second day of the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton, but Mother Nature had other ideas, as rain and poor conditions forced a number of events to be cancelled.
For field events, Fordham had competitors in the women's high jump and triple jump events.
Leia Ruvo finished sixth in the high jump, clearing 5' 3 ¼", while
Alexandra Manetovic was ninth at 5' 1 ¼". Manetovic was also sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 36' 11 ¾".
On the track, the 4x100 relay saw Fordham finish seventh in the men's event, as
Christian Weddington,
Kenneth Maxwell,
Liam Volz, and
Jonah Coleman clocked in at 43.02, while on the women's side,
Kathryn Kelly,
Nicole Lytle,
Dillyn Green, and
Skylar Harris were ninth in 47.71 seconds.
Lytle was also able to compete in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles, ending up 14
th in 15.66 seconds.
The final event before weather forced the cancellation of the rest of the events was the 1,500 meters, where
Alexandra Thomas was second in the women's event at 4:45.53, followed by
Taylor Mascetta in third at 4:45.89. On the men's side,
Darren Croke was the top Ram in 14
th place at 3:58.88, followed by
Yariv Simhony in 20
th (4:01.23) and
Nolan Chiles in 33
rd (4:05.71).
Fordham will next be in action on April 21-22 at the Rutgers Relays.
