Track & Field Closes Competition at Colonial Relays

Fordham’s Nathania Tan & Ryan Fahey Win 10,000-Meter Runs

Williamsburg, Va. – (April 1, 2023) – Competition at the 2023 Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary, has come to a close with the Fordham track & field team finishing in the top 15 teams in both team competitions.
 
The Fordham women were 15th in the team standings out of 34 teams that scored with 21 points, while the men were tied for 14th out of 38 scoring teams with 18 points.
 
In the individual track events, the day began with two event wins for the Rams.  Nathania Tan won the women's 10,000-meter run in 38:27.06, while Ryan Fahey took first in the men's event in 32:17.82.  Nicolas Grabarz also has a good showing, placing fifth in the men's event in 32:26.25.
 
The 800-meter Invitational was next with a trio of Rams running.  In the women's event, Mary Kathryn Underwood (2:15.38) and Helen Connolly (2:15.69) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, while Zalen Nelson was fifth in the men's event at 1:52.68.
 
Over in the field events, Justin Rhee was fourth in the men's  triple jump with a mark of 43' 8", while Leia Ruvo (36' 5") and Alexandra Manetovic (35' 3 ¼") were eighth and 14th in the women's event.  Amanda Gurth was 14th overall in the women's shot put at 34' 8 ½" with the remaining competitors in the women's high jump.  Jana Rokitta tied for second in the Invitational edition, clearing 5' 5 ¾", while Ruvo (T-2nd) and Manetovic (T-7th) both cleared 5' 1 ¼" in the regular edition.
 
The Colonial Relays then concluded with five different relay events, beginning with the 4x100 relay, where Dillyn Green, Kathryn Kelly, Ileana Chlorou, and Ruby Avila finished 13th in the women's event in 49.39 seconds.
 
Green, Kelly, and Chlorou then joined Alexandra Williams for the women's 4x200 relay to finish eighth in 1:43.38.  On the men's side, Liam Volz, Matthew Nurse, Rhee, and Kenneth Maxwell grabbed ninth in 1:32.83.
 
Next up was the men's distance medley relay where Nathan Bezuneh, Isaiah James, Ben Borchers, and Colin Flood were fifth overall in 10:10.94.
 
The Rams ended the day, running in both versions of the 4x1500 relay and 4x400 relay.  For the women, Marin Bogulski, Alexandra Thomas, Taylor Mascetta, and Caitrina Barton were ninth in the 4x1500 in 19:56.52, while Molly Mulvaney, Underwood, Connolly, and Avila were 12th in the 4x400 relay at 4:03.41.
 
For the men, it was Trevor Rinn, Nolan Chiles, Justin Lombardi, and Darren Croke in the 4x1500, taking tenth in 16:23.08, with Nurse, Nelson, Erik Brown, and Yariv Simhony finishing fourth in the 4x400 relay in 3:17.68.
 
The Fordham track & field team will next be in action on April 7-8 at the Metropolitan Championship, held at Ichan Stadium.
