Riverside, Calif. - The Fordham women's tennis squad got its spring break trip to California off to a good start, defeating the University of California-Riverside, 4-1, at the SRC Tennis Courts.
 
"It's a solid start to the outdoor season," said Fordham head coach Michael Sowter. "It's always a challenge to transition from indoors to outdoors but the team played well against a scrappy UCR squad."
 
The match opened with Fordham winning the doubles point, winning both completed matches, and then the Rams clinched the win by taking three of the first four completed singles matches.
